Fork- Antietam National Battlefield, MD (3D)

Archaeologists uncovered this civil war era fork from the Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland, a site famous for preventing the Confederate takeover of Maryland in 1862. This particular fork style, bone handled and attached to a steel base, would be the last of its era. By the mid to late 19th century, nickle-plated flatware was preferred for its low costs and etched motifs.
